Ruby is the red stone of the corundum mineral family which can be found in Afghanistan, Cambodia, India, Kampuchea, Kenya, Madagascar, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, the U.S.A. and Zimbabwe.
Rubies symbolize love and devotion and some believe they have the power to stimulate sexual desire and energy. It is suggested that this stone may be used to treat physical wounds, blood disorders and emotional and spiritual wounds.
Ruby Zoisite:This metamorphic gem is a natural combination of ruby and zoisite crystals with the zoisite providing an earthy green and black color complimented by the red of the ruby. Since ruby zoisite is fairly soft, it scratches easily.
It is found in Australia, Norway, Tanzania and the U.S.A.
Ruby Zoisite is purported to increase awareness of the super-ego.
