What forms of payment do you accept?
Pay securely through Paypal, your credit card, or a money order.
Paypal is an industry leader in secure on line payments, and add an extra layer of protection for you.
All credit cards are processed through a secure merchant account. Your credit card information is not stored or saved on this site. In fact I never see it so I never have to worry about losing it or misplacing it.
If you are paying by money order please read the following carefully.
Please email us the products you are buying so they can be pulled from inventory. The best way to do so is to create a shopping cart and cut and paste the order into an email. You can also call me and I will do it for you 5212 392 3091.
The products you are interested in may be purchased between the time you you make your order and I receive your money order. The web site does not pull the items out of inventory automatically until the order is paid for. If you have an account in good standing with us I will pull your items out of inventory as soon as I receive your order.

How much is shipping to the USA and Canada?
Shipping to the USA is free. There is a small $4 handling fee for orders under $35. Why? Because it keeps our costs down so we can sell beads cheaper and then you will be happier. You can choose insurance at check out for $2.95.
Canadian shipping is free. There is a small $5 handling charge for orders under $35. Large and exceptionally fragile orders or those needing insurance must be shipped priority, you will be invoiced for the difference.
Orders over $199 require insurance to Canada and will have to be shipped priority. Priority mail costs $20.95 and large priority boxes cost $27.95. These prices reflect a $5 credit towards shipping. We will invoice you for the additional shipping charges before we ship. If you have a question about your shipping please call 512-392-3091.
Your package will be shipped within 24 hours during business days of placing your order in most circumstances. Internationals within 48 hours business days.
Semi precious beads are duty free to Canada so if you are charged duty ask for it back. Contact your customs officials. GST is something that I must say you just can't get away from. I wish I had the power to do something about it. I didn't when I lived in Canada and I tried. They listen to me even less now that I live in Texas.
Do you ship internationally? If so, how much is it?
Yes, to Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and most European Union countries. Basically if you go to the USPS website and they will ship to your country than so will we.
Canadian shipping is free for first class. There is a small $5 handling charge for orders under $35. To insure an order it must be shipped priority. Small priority boxes are $20.95 and large priority boxes cost $27.95 plus insurance. Large and exceptionally fragile orders must be shipped priority. These charges reflect a $5 credit towards shipping costs.
International shipping starts at $6 for one to five items which ships first class. Five to fifteen items $10 for a flat rate international. It depends on the size of the beads and the weight.
Heavier items and larger orders are subject to a shipping fee adjustment. Parcels that require insurance must be shipped priority and all packages over $199 must purchase insurance. A small flat rate box is available (up to 20 pounds) for $36.95, priority mail plus additional for insurance. A large priority box is $48.95 plus insurance. These prices reflect a $5 credit towards shipping costs. USPS quoted delivery time is 7-14 days. We will ship the most cost effective way possible. If your countries customs decides to hold your package delivery can be delayed as long as a month. Luckily that rarely happens. My hunch is they just like to play with your beads.
If you believe you need tracking then you must pay for priority as well.

Can I combine ebay purchases with purchases from this store?
Of course you can. I would never stop you from buying more! Purchases are invoiced and paid for separately but can be shipped together. If you qualify for free shipping on eBay please click the button at check out saying you purchased more than $35 on this site so you do not incur the handling fee of $5.
If you make a mistake and pay too much shipping email us to give us a heads up and we will refund any over payments. Usually we do so anyway but sometimes it may slip by us. There is no need to fret when you shop with us. We will take care of anything that crops up.

How do I buy wholesale?
There are no minimum purchase requirements or buyer requirements for purchasing from Magpie Gemstones. Our prices are far below industry retail for the quality that we carry and with percentage off discounts below, most wholesale as well. We want you to succeed because then so do we.

Do you accept returns?
Yes of course, returns are accepted within 14 days of the ship date for a full refund less shipping when items are returned in their original condition. If there is a defect or a mistake we will pay shipping back as well. Please include a copy of the invoice or the invoice number. A $5 handling fee may be charged for orders shipped with no handling charges if by returning the item your sale becomes less than $35. Once returned you can choose either a refund or a store credit. Include that information with your return.
Do you have a catalog or show room?
No, to keep costs as low as possible, there is no show room or catalog. Unique items change so quickly that a catalogue would be out of date by the time it was printed. We are an online store only. Having a store front costs a great deal in overhead and we would then have to raise our prices above wholesale.
We take the beads out on field trips so they can be fondled by all of you. Check our show schedule to see where we will be.
Do you have a disclaimer?
Yes, there is a disclaimer. While every effort is made to have accurate treatment and size information, this information is not guaranteed to be accurate 100% of the time and is for information purposes only. We try very hard to stay abreast of treatments of gemstones and disclose all that we know of. It is important as a jewelry designer you know what you are selling your clients.
I am not a gemologist, or geologist. I design with many stones and sell them. I believe everything has its place and at the same time, there is no need to knowingly misrepresent a product so we do not do so just to sell it. If I have one weakness it is that I get frustrated with sellers that seem to do so intentionally. By law all sellers of gemstones must disclose any treatments.
Well ok I have many more weaknesses but lets not talk about that right now.
This information is accurate to the best of my knowledge and is not intended for anything other than a sharing of understanding and knowledge.
Sometimes we make mistakes in inventory and if we are out of stock on an item you will be refunded the full purchase price and appologized to profusely.
Do you backorder or take special orders?
Due to the way we buy, we don't backorder as inventory is constantly changing. We seek out those great values and pass those values on to you. We won't reorder something if the price is not consistent with the previous purchase. If you purchase more than what is in inventory, you will be invoiced for the amount you actually receive.
Custom or special orders can be made in the factory in China or India. Lead time on these orders are normally 6 weeks. A deposit is required on all special or custom orders. Usually there is a minimum of ten strands for custom designs.
I can't get logged in.
Make sure when you fill out the register form the first time you click the box that asks if you agree to shipping and the box at the very bottom that says you agree to the privacy policy. After that if you are still having problems email us or call 512-392-3091 and we will set up your account for you.
The other option is to hit the pay with paypal button then you have to fill out nothing, it takes you straight to the paypal website where you sign in.
Where is my shopping cart?
The site does not save your shopping cart once you leave the site. Well that is not exactly true. The site will hold your cart for as long as you have your computer set up to store information through cookies but since that is so variable I can not guarantee your cart will be there. You will have to make your wish list the old fashioned way with a pen and paper or set up a folder in your book marks and save the pages with the items you want to that folder. Hopefully you agree that the great prices are worth it.
Leaving your items in a shopping cart does not save them for you anyway. Someone else can come in and buy them up even if you have put them in a cart on any site. Stock is limited on most items and they do sell out often.
